Pricing & Quotes

How much does a carport cost in Pretoria?

Steel carport pricing starts from approximately R8,500 for a single bay, with double bays ranging from R14,000 to R22,000 depending on size, roofing material, and site conditions. Shadenet carports start from around R6,000 single bay. The only accurate price is after a free site assessment — contact us and we measure and quote at no charge. See the full pricing guide for all structure types.

Do you charge for site assessments and quotes?

No. Site assessments and written quotes are completely free with no obligation. We come to your property, take measurements, check access and boundary conditions, and provide a firm written price before any commitment.

Are your quoted prices fully inclusive?

Yes. Pronet quotes cover fabrication at our Pretoria premises, delivery to site, foundation excavation and concrete, frame erection, and roofing installation. There are no separate labour, delivery, or foundation charges. If HOA-compliant drawings are required, these are included in the quoted price at no additional charge.

Is a deposit required?

No deposit is required at the quotation stage. Payment terms are confirmed in the written quote. Typically, a deposit is required on acceptance of the quote to schedule manufacturing, with the balance due on completion of installation.

Can I get a price without a site visit?

We can provide a general price range over the phone or WhatsApp, but a ballpark estimate without a site visit is rarely accurate enough to be useful. Bay size, soil conditions, boundary wall proximity, and HOA requirements all affect the final figure. The free site assessment exists precisely because accurate pricing requires a physical look at the site.

Installation & Process

How long does a carport installation take?

Most residential carports are completed in one to two days on site. Foundations are poured on day one and the frame and roofing go up on day two once the concrete has cured. All components are fabricated at our Pretoria premises before your installation day, so there is minimal disruption on site. Larger commercial or multi-bay structures typically take two to three days.

How long does the full process take from first contact to installation?

From first contact to completed installation is typically 7 – 14 working days for residential structures, depending on current project scheduling. If HOA approval is required, allow an additional 5 – 15 working days for the estate management review process. Pronet confirms the complete timeline in writing at the quote stage.

Do you manufacture components yourselves or outsource?

Pronet operates its own fabrication facility in Pretoria. Every frame, bracket, and shadenet assembly is manufactured at our premises before your installation day. Nothing is outsourced. This gives us full quality control and means your installation team arrives on site with everything prepared, not assembling parts in your driveway.

What happens if the weather is bad on installation day?

Light rain does not stop most installations. Foundation pouring and concrete curing require dry conditions, so if heavy rain or severe weather is forecast on the foundation day, we will reschedule. Frame and roofing work can usually proceed in overcast or light conditions. You will be notified the day before if any rescheduling is required.

Will there be a lot of mess or damage to my driveway?

Foundation excavation creates some spoil which is removed from site. Post holes are small and localised. Since all components arrive pre-fabricated, there is no cutting, grinding, or welding on your property. Driveways are typically left cleaner than before installation.

HOA & Municipal Compliance

Do I need council approval for a carport in Pretoria?

Under SANS 10400 and Tshwane municipality building regulations, permanent structures above certain dimensions require building plan submission and approval. The specific threshold depends on structure size and your property zoning. Pronet can advise during the site assessment whether your planned structure requires plan submission, and can produce the required technical drawings.

Do you assist with HOA approval for estate installations?

Yes. Pronet is experienced with the HOA approval process in Silver Lakes, Waterkloof, Erasmuskloof, Moreleta Park, Mooikloof, and similar estates. Our structures are SANS 10400-compliant and we produce all technical drawings and specifications required for submission to estate management. We recommend obtaining HOA approval before installation begins and can assist with the application.

Are HOA drawings included in the price?

Yes. If your property or estate requires compliant technical drawings for HOA or body corporate submission, Pronet produces these as part of the quotation process at no additional charge. The quoted price is the complete price.

What happens if my HOA rejects the design?

We work with your HOA requirements from the start. If the initial submission requires amendment based on the estate management feedback, we revise the drawings. We have not had an installation refused after going through the proper process. The problems occur when homeowners use installers who submit incorrect or non-compliant drawings.

Warranties & Materials

What warranty do you offer?

Every Pronet installation carries a 3-year workmanship warranty. Shadenet installations additionally carry an 8-year manufacturer warranty on the shadecloth material. Hot-dip galvanised steel components carry 20+ years of corrosion resistance. If anything fails within the workmanship warranty period, we fix it — no charge, no delay, no fine print.

Will a steel carport rust?

Pronet uses hot-dip galvanised steel, not painted or spray-coated. The galvanising process bonds zinc to the steel through immersion in molten zinc at high temperature. This provides 20+ years of corrosion resistance under normal Highveld conditions. Painted or powder-coated steel corrodes significantly faster once the coating is scratched or chipped. We do not use painted steel.

Will a carport withstand Pretoria hailstorms?

Our IBR steel roofing is rated for severe hailstone impact — the same specification used for residential roofing in Gauteng. Shadenet carports are designed to flex and recover under hail impact rather than dent. We also factor Highveld wind speeds into every frame anchoring design. The foundations are engineered for local soil conditions and Highveld wind loads, not generic national standards.

How long will a shadenet carport last?

The shadecloth carries an 8-year manufacturer warranty. The steel frame is hot-dip galvanised and will last 20+ years under normal conditions. Shadecloth can be replaced at end of life without replacing the frame structure, at a fraction of the original installation cost.

Structure Types

What is the difference between a carport and a shadeport?

A carport is a vehicle shelter structure, typically with a solid or shadenet roof over a parking bay. A shadeport is a broader shade structure that may cover a larger area — a garden, pool, outdoor entertainment area, or commercial space — and is not necessarily vehicle-specific. Pronet installs both, and many of our carport structures are specified as shadeports when they cover non-vehicle applications.

What is a cantilever carport and when do I need one?

A cantilever carport has posts on one side only, with the roof structure cantilevering over the parking area. There are no posts on the access side. This is the correct solution when a driveway runs along a boundary wall, when space is too narrow for a second post row on the vehicle access side, or when you need completely clear access alongside a wall or structure. They cost slightly more than standard double-post carports due to heavier steel gauge requirements.

Should I choose steel or shadenet roofing?

Steel IBR roofing provides full weather protection including rain, and is the correct choice if you need a vehicle fully sheltered from Highveld storms. Shadenet provides up to 90% UV protection with full airflow, keeping vehicles cooler than steel roofs in Pretoria summers, and is significantly lower cost. If your vehicle is kept in a garage during heavy rain and you use the carport for day-to-day protection from sun and hail, shadenet is often the better value choice. The free assessment will give you a specific recommendation based on your site and requirements.
